Are Leicester City title contenders?

After 23 games this season, Leicester City sit in third place with 46 points, ten points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City, and behind second-place Manchester United only on goal difference.

Although Manchester City have a clear advantage, Leicester have been impressive so far, recreating some of the magic we saw from them in their 2015-16 title-winning season. They also show no signs of dropping out of the top four, as they did last season. The Foxes are unbeaten in their last four games in all competitions and have only lost a single game in their previous 14, while beating the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Premier League holders Liverpool.

Leicester City's main man Jamie Vardy continues to perform at the age of 34. The Englishman has found the back of the net 12 times and assisted 5 goals so far this season. Although Vardy has proved time after time that he is The Foxes' key and most dominant player, others have shown that there is more to Leicester City than just their leading goalscorer. James Maddison, Wesley Fofana, Wilfred Ndidi, James Justin and Youri Tielemans are only a portion of players who have been outstanding during the 2020-2021 campaign.

Brendan Rodgers' side will look forward to their next game as they face Slavia Prague in the round of 32 in the Europa League. Progression to the last 16 of the tournament would be a massive achievement, and victory against Manchester United in the FA Cup on March 21st would put them in the semi-finals in that tournament as well.

But the Foxes have to be careful not to tire out their best players too much. They still need to travel to the blue side of Manchester to face league favourites Manchester City on April 3rd, and then again to the red side of the city for an all-important league match against Manchester United on May 11th. These may very well be title deciding matches.

Can Leicester City continue their incredible run and lift the Premier League trophy this May? They certainly have the quality, but a repeat of their 2015-16 miracle would largely depend on Manchester City botching their lead.
