Dear Boris Johnson

I’m a 14 year old girl , almost 15, growing up in North London and I am currently in preparations for my GSCE exams. I aspire to become a music producer and hopefully one day have my own record label. But I also share a passion for politics, so before you bash on my aspirations, I am letting you know I am also intellectual and articulate and I know what I’m talking about. What I am about say; you take it as you wish... You have done an appalling job of trying to keep my generation safe and successful in education during this pandemic, especially those who are most vulnerable; just like myself. You closed the schools much later than you should have. You did not take into consideration the safety of students. There were low numbers of staff in schools anyway because teachers had to take their own safety precautions before it was too late. So we did not even have the educational support we needed.

All these deaths were just simply statistics to you. You will never understand how it feels to fear your life. I had 3 scares of thinking I had COVID. I took multiple tests, worried. Not only was I worried but I was petrified and so anxious. The only tests I should be worried about is my up coming mock exams and my official GCSE exams next year.

You also will never understand the feeling of fearing for one of your vulnerable classmates having COVID and being scared about whether they will survive or not. This pandemic has taken a toll on our mental health and just to top the icing on the Christmas Yule log and cream on that mince pie we could not share with our loved ones, you gave us false hope that we could spend Christmas with family. I knew from the very beginning that you were not a good leader, who could run this country. The long record of sexist, homophobic, islamphobic and racist comments you have previously made was proof of this. How can you run a country full of multiculturalism, when you do not respect differences?

I have no idea why people ever voted for you and your party because you are so close minded about the make up the UKs population. And Boris , I have to ask , what happened to brexit? Did brexit test positive for COVID? Why is it being brushed underneath the carpet?

I remember being in year 6 , sitting in the assembly hall when I first heard about brexit. I grew to understand what it was and the what the outcome would be and I immediately thought it did not take into consideration our multicultural community and how people want to change their life, especially those who come to this country in hope they can better their lives. This was one of the main reasons I oppose brexit but obviously I am young and legally I do not have a voice nor do I have voting rights to make a difference. But I must ask why is it that four years later brexit is still the topic of conversation and hardly anything has been done to change that even if we leave the European Union or not.

Now I have voiced my opinion I can rest assured that I have emphasised my point and I just hope my fellow friends and people my age will have the courage to also do so. Lastly, I would like to say one last thing...Merry Christmas to the grinch who stole the holiday’s joy, festivities and true meaning CELEBRATING WITH FAMILY!!
