OPEC raises 2021 world GDP growth forecast to 4.8 pct.

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) published its monthly oil market report for February, upscaling the estimate for the 2021 global economic growth to 4.8 percent.


"Additional stimulus measures in the United States and accelerating recovery in Asian economies are expected to lift the 2021 forecast to 4.8 percent, compared to the previous month's forecast of 4.4 percent," the release noted.


The US economy is expected to rebound 4.2 percent this year, while the Eurozone GDP should rise 4.1 percent in the same period. Japan's economy is set to rise 2.9 percent, followed by China's outstanding growth estimates of 7.4 percent. Expectations for India also went up to 7.5 percent GDP growth in 2021, for Brazil also up to 2.9 percent, as well as for Russia 3.0 percent.
