Saner returns the mandate to form a government in TRNC to President Tatar

UBP Deputy Chairman Saner, who was appointed by President Ersin Tatar to form the new government in the TRNC, returned the post.

Deputy Chairman of the National Unity Party (UBP) Ersan Saner, who was appointed by President Ersin Tatar to form a new government in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), returned the post.

After Saner returned the mandate to form the government at the Presidency office, Tatar expressed his regret in his speech and said that he expected the government to be established as soon as possible.

Tatar said, "The Assembly and its deputies are there to serve the people. In my opinion, at the moment there was a ground for establishing a government. Everyone will then make an assessment of why it could not be established." said.

Noting that the budget should be discussed in the TRNC Republican Assembly, Tatar stated that the budget should be passed through the Parliament before the beginning of the year.

Tatar stated that he will make an assessment today and make a decision on how the process will be carried out.

Saner also said that they held talks with all parties represented in the Parliament, but that they returned the office because they could not find the number to reach any majority.

Pointing out that the country needs an urgent government, Saner emphasized that it is their most essential duty to pave the way for Turkish Cypriot democracy.

Saner noted that as UBP, they are ready for duty whenever needed.

President Tatar is expected to give the task of forming a new government to Tufan Erhürman, Chairman of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP).

Saner took the mission on November 7

President Tatar gave Saner the mandate to form the government on 7 November.

Saner, who took the task of establishing the 36th government of the TRNC, had to form the government within 15 days as per the Constitution, otherwise he had to return the post.

Saner has been in talks with representatives of the CTP, People's Party (HP), Democratic Party (DP), Communal Democracy Party (TDP) and the Rebirth Party (YDP), who have been represented in the TRNC Republican Assembly since November 7, but he could not come to a conclusion.

The support of 26 deputies is required for the establishment of a government in the Republican Assembly, which consists of 50 seats in the TRNC.
