The victim, in her late 20s, was making her way home after a night out with a friend when she became lost after the taxi driver dropped her off at the wrong destination.
She found herself in an unfamiliar wooded area near Catford Bridge station when she was approached by the attacker Danut Bulboana.
Bulboana, 21, raped the woman. When she tried to scream for help, Bulboana stifled her cries by forcing an unknown object into her mouth, choking her.
The woman managed to gey away from Bulboana and called 999 at about 11.30pm on August 27, 2019.
Bulboana, of no fixed address, was jailed for 12 years on Tuesday, November 17 at Woolwich Crown Court after being found guilty of two counts of rape and a charge of attempting to choke
