SNP/Blackford: Brexit deal act of economic vandalism

NEWS IN ENGLISH

Leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP) in the British House of Commons Ian Blackford dismissed on Wednesday the deal the United Kingdom and the European Union reached over their post-Brexit trade relations as an "act of economic vandalism" and "the first trade deal in history that puts up barriers for business instead of removing them."

"If this whole Brexit saga was truly about sovereignty, then the Scottish people can't and won't be denied our sovereign right to that self-determination," he said. "The Tory denial of democracy is a position that can't and won't hold. Scotland will have the right to choose its own future."
Earlier this month, London and Brussels agreed on their post-Brexit trade relations. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel signed on Wednesday the trade agreement that will take effect after the end of the Brexit transition period.
The accord will now be sent to London for British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to sign.
