TurkStat-Total 60 mln. tonnes of coal delivered to TPPs in 10 months

A total of 59 million 675 thousand tonnes of coal were delivered to the thermal power plants (TPP) in Turkey in the first 10 months of the year, including 41.89 million tonnes of lignite and 17.78 million tonnes of hard coal, according to the Solid Fuels data, released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) on Friday.


Concerning the deliveries of solid fuels in October, hard coal was delivered with a percentage of 50.9 percent to thermal power plants, 14.1 percent to coking plants, and 13.0 percent to industry (except iron and steel industry). Additionally, 79.8 percent of lignite was delivered to thermal power plants and 11.2 percent to industry (except iron and steel industry). Lastly, 93.8 percent of coke derived from hard coal was delivered to the iron and steel industry.
Marketable production of lignite was 5 million 658 thousand 256 tonnes in October. Marketable production of lignite(1) decreased by 10.1 percent in October compared to the previous month, by 21.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, and by 22.4 percent in January-October period compared to the same period of the previous year.
Marketable production of hard coal was 108 thousand 831 tonnes in October. Marketable production of hard coal increased by 9.4 percent in October compared to the same month of the previous year. However, its production decreased by 0.5 percent compared to the previous month and by 14.6 percent in January-October period compared to the same period of the previous year.
Marketable production of coke derived from hard coal was 369 thousand 708 tonnes in October. Its production increased by 3.3 percent compared to the previous month. On the other hand, it decreased by 4.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and by 1.1 percent in January-October period compared to the same period of the previous year.
Imports of hard coal was 3 million 440 thousand 299 tonnes. Imports of hard coal increased by 11.7 percent in January-October period compared to the same period of the previous year. However, its imports decreased by 8.8 percent in October compared to the previous month and by 9.3 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
Imports of coke derived from hard coal increased by 376.7 percent in October compared to the previous month, by 112.9 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and by 2.7 percent in January-October period compared to the same period of the previous year.
