US crude stockpiles jump by 2.7M barrels - report

Crude oil inventories in the United States increased by 2.7 million barrels in the week ending December 18, private data from the American Petroleum Institute (API) reportedly showed on Tuesday. 


Crude stockpiles in Cushing, Oklahoma, gained 341,000 barrels during the same seven-day period.
Gasoline stockpiles declined by 224,000 barrels, while distillate inventories rose by 1.03 million barrels, the reported data showed.
The official figures on inventories are to be released later in the day by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).
West Texas Intermediate futures for February delivery fell 2.30 percent at 4:31 pm ET to 46.79 dollars per barrel and February Brent lost 1.83 percent to go for 49.87 dollars per barrel at 4:32 pm ET.
