According to The Wall Street Journal, Yellen will urge lawmakers to "act big" when it comes to providing additional financial support during the coronavirus crisis. Yellen is scheduled to deliver remarks to the Senate Finance Committee, the body that is considering her nomination.
Meanwhile, the confirmation hearing is supposed to take place on January 19, a day before Biden's inauguration ceremony. Yellen had held the seat of Federal Reserve chairwoman between 2014 and 2018. If she is elected, she will become the first woman in US history to hold the post of Treasury secretary.
