Baker Hughes: US oil rig count unchanged at 337

The number of oil rigs in the United States remained unchanged at 337 in the week ending April 9, data from Baker Hughes showed on Friday.


Meanwhile, the number of gas rigs climbed by 2 to reach 93, bringing the country's total rig count to 432. Compared to the same period a year ago, the number of rigs fell by 167.

In Canada, the total number of rigs decreased by 11 to 58 with oil rigs down by 5 to 19 and the number of gas rigs declining by 6 to 39. On an annual basis, Canada's oil rigs were up by 13.

Commercial crude oil inventories in the United States, which are not taking into account those in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, dropped by 3.5 million barrels to 498.3 million barrels in the week ending April 2, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported.
