Baker Hughes: US oil rig count up by 4 to 309

The number of oil rigs in the United States increased by 4 to 309 in the week ending February 26 compared to the previous week, according to the Baker Hughes weekly rig count released on Friday.


Meanwhile, the number of US gas rigs rose by 1 to 92 during the same week to bring the total number of rigs in the country to 402 with 1 miscellaneous rig. Compared to the same period a year earlier, the number of oil rigs is down by 388.


In Canada, the number of rigs decreased by 9 to 163. The number of oil rigs in Canada fell by 8 to 92 and is down by 71 compared to the same time a year ago.


Crude oil stockpiles in the United States increased by 1.3 million to 463 million barrels in the week ending February 19, the US Energy Information Administration said in its weekly report on Wednesday.
