British Parliamentarians support 'federal solution in Cyprus'

The ex Labour Party Leader Jeremy Corbyn, Conservative Party MP Roger Gale, and EU MEP from Cyprus, Prof. Dr. Niyazi Kızılyürek are meeting on an online Webinar supporting "A Federal solution in Cyprus".

Former Labour Party Leader Jeremy Corbyn as well as Conservative Party MP Roger Gale and European Union MP Professor Dr. Niyazi Kızılyürek will take part in a webinar which will be broadcasted on television.

The event will take place on Thursday, 18th March, at 18:00 UK time, (20:00 hours in Cyprus, and 21.00 in Turkey). The session will be chaired by Dr. Alev Adil. The event has been organised in partnership with Euro Genç TV and Kanal SIM, one of the TRNC satellite channels. The director of the televised program is Gülay Ermiya.

North Islington MP Jeremy Corbyn has been actively engaged on the Cyprus issue, and has been an important ally for Greek and Turkish Cypriot left as well as supporting left wing Turkish groups. Corbyn has supported the framework set by the UN in achieving a solution to the Cyprus issue. In 2017, he supported the establishment of the "Cypriots for the Labour Party" group.

Conservative Party MP, Roger Gale, represents Margate, Herne Bay and surrounding villages in Parliament and is also President of the "Parliament APPG on Cyprus, a cross party group comprising of House of Commons and House of Lords members.

Professor Dr. Niyazi Kızılyürek is a Professor of Political History at the University of Cyprus. He became a European Union MEP in 2019 on behalf of his party, AKEL. One of his first campaigns in the European Parliament was to have the Turkish language adopted as an official language of the EU. The campaign is still ongoing.

The Webinar on ' A Federal Solution for Cyprus' which is supported by the Cyprus Turkish Democracy Association will be broadcast in English on Euro Genç TV, while its Turkish translation will be simultaneously broadcast on Kanal SIM, one of the TRNC satellite channels.
