CRYPTOCURRENCY - Bitcoin rises over $55,000 level

The price of Bitcoin bounced back to over the 55,000 dollars level, after hitting the 53,000 dollars line, falling from a new record high of a 61,683.86-dollar level, on fresh corporate purchases.

Bitcoin increased by 1.72 percent in the last 24 hours to 55,323.67 dollars, after fluctuating between 53,779.30 and 57,113.09 dollars, while the weekly gain of the currency was calculated at 4.23 percent. Bitcoin's total market volume was at 1.0 trillion 38.9 billion dollars.


Ethereum, the second-largest unit of the cryptocurrency markets, also rose 1.20 percent in the last 24 hours to 1,771.97 dollars, with a weekly gain of 0.01 percent; the market volume of the unit also increased to 203.98 billion dollars.


Binance Coin, the third largest unit of the crypto money markets, also rose 2.84 percent in the last 24 hours to 253.63 dollars, while its weekly earnings were 6.53 percent; the market volume of the unit also increased to 39.37 billion dollars.


With increasing corporate purchases, the total market capitalisation, which exceeded the 1.5 trillion dollar limit for the first time in history on February 15, was at 1 trillion 716.67 billion dollars in the early hours of Wednesday.


While the value of 21 units decreased from the highest volume of 100 units in the last 24 hours in the crypto money markets, none of the top 10 units was among those that fell.


Bitcoin accounted for 60.6 percent and Ethereum for 11.9 percent of the total market volume in 36,603 markets where 8,841 cryptocurrencies were traded, while the 24-hour trading volume in all markets was at 131 billion dollars.
