GLOBAL MARKETS - Asia trades higher on vaccine hopes

Asian stock markets traded higher on Monday after Chinese regulators reportedly approved another coronavirus vaccine, while the Sinopharm Group Co. Ltd.'s Wuhan Institute of Biological Products announced it could produce 100 million doses on a yearly basis. 


Investors also analyzed the economic data reports on the manufacturing sector in China and in Japan.


The Nikkei 225 jumped 2.13 percent, while the Shanghai Composite increased by 0.24 percent and the Shenzhen Composite Index went up 1.52 percent. The Hang Seng advanced 1.27 percent. The Kospi in South Korea was closed as the country observes Independence Day. The S&P/ASX 200 in Australia gained 1.30 percent.
The dollar was flat compared to the Japanese yen, trading for 106.6215.
