TurkStat - Wheat price increased by 23.64 percent in 2020

The price of wheat increased by 23.64 percent in 2020 on an annual basis, according to the Prices and Production Values of Crop Products data, released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) on Friday.


The annual production value of fruits, beverages, and spices crops increased by 36.46 percent in 2020, while the production value of cereals and other crop products increased by 22.99 percent to 97.37 billion lira and the production value of vegetables increased by  9.59 percent to 55.28 billion lira.


The other products with an increase in 2020 compared to the previous year were lentil (red) with 44.31 percent, bean (dry) with  percent27.00, rice in the husk with 25.72 percent, and barley (other) with 19.34 percent. On the other hand, the price of potatoes (other) by 34.85 percent decreased compared to the previous year.


The price of tomatoes (for table) increased by 4.46 percent compared to the previous year in 2020, while the price of watermelon with 44.76 percent, the price of melon with 34.66 percent, and the price of cucumber (for table) with 9.05 percent increased compared to the previous year. On the other hand, the product that decreased in price compared to the previous year was onion (dry) with 7.78 percent.


The price of hazelnuts increased by 32.35 percent compared to the previous year, while the beverages and spice plants, in 2020 the products that that increased in price compared to the previous year were orange (Washington) with 42.35 percent, lemon with 20.11 percent, apples (starking) with 18.57 percent and grapes (for table-seeds) with 15.85 percent.
