US oil inventories up by 3.91 million barrels

Crude inventories in the United States rose by 3.91 million barrels in the week ending March 26, private data from the American Petroleum Institute (API) reportedly showed on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, gasoline stockpiles in the US declined by 6,021,000 barrels during the same week, while the country's distillate reserves rose by 2,595,000 barrels.


On the other hand, investors await data on the United States crude oil inventories that is expected to be released by the US Energy Information Administration later in the day.


The number of oil rigs in the United States rose by 6 to 324 in the week ending March 17, data from Baker Hughes showed on Friday.


During the same period, the number of US gas and miscellaneous rigs rose remained unchanged at 92 and 1 respectively, bringing the overall figure to 417. Compared to the same period a year earlier, the number of rigs is down by 311.
