Established on 8th March 1983, the Council of Turkish Cypriot Associations (CTCA) Britain’s largest, democratically elected umbrella body for the community. It was founded in an effort to give national representation to the UK’s 300,000-strong diverse Turkish Cypriot community, which celebrated its centenary in Britain in 2017. It serves to empower the British Turkish Cypriot community through civic engagement, and to support strong UK-Turkish Cypriot relations through education and advocacy.

Voluntary-managed, the CTCA and its 28 member associations have been at the forefront of promoting Turkish Cypriot culture and heritage, pursuing the interests of British Turkish Cypriots, strengthening the bridges between the UK and the TRNC, and lobbying the British government on matters of concern for the community, such as direct flights between the UK and North Cyprus. CTCA has also organised a workshop in THE TRNC for the right to vote and stand for election.

In order to fulfil its mission and objectives, CTCA organizes high profile events such as Turkish Cypriot Festival and Awards Gala. It also undertakes a number of activities through its members to promote the rich traditions, art and heritage of the Turkish Cypriot People. Each member association of CTCA serves to support its own members through various folklore, literature, musical, historical, educational, social and cultural functions/events. CTCA operates as a conduit within the network of member organisations.
