CRYPTOCURRENCY-Bitcoin's market volume fell below $1.0-trillion level

The Bitcoin's price fell to 52,000-dollar level, while its total market volume decreased below 1.0 trillion line, after the general sale-wave on the Chair of the United States Federal Reserve Jerome Powell's speech on the cryptocurrencies, defining them "more for speculation" than they are meant to be used as payment.

On the other hand, Tesla Inc. has enabled customers to buy vehicles using Bitcoin as a payment method, CEO Elon Musk announced on Wednesday. "You can now buy a Tesla with Bitcoin," Musk tweeted. "Tesla is using only internal and open source software and operates Bitcoin nodes directly. Bitcoin paid to Tesla will be retained as Bitcoin, not converted to fiat currency," he added.


Bitcoin decreased by 4.08 percent in the last 24 hours to 52,622.37 dollars, after fluctuating between 52,129.25 and 57,262.38 dollars, while the weekly loss of the currency was calculated at 10.46 percent. Bitcoin's total market volume fell to 982.61 billion dollars.


Ethereum, the second-largest unit of the crypto currency markets, also fell by 6.17 percent in the last 24 hours to 1,586.64 dollars, while its weekly loss was 13.54 percent; the market volume of the unit also decreased to 182.75 billion dollars.


Tether, the third largest unit of the crypto currency markets, rose by 0.01 percent in the last 24 hours to 1.00 dollar, with a weekly gain of 0.23 percent; the market volume of the unit also increased to 40.33 billion dollars.


With increasing corporate purchases, the total market capitalisation, which exceeded the 1.5 trillion dollar limit for the first time in history on February 15, was at 1 trillion 633 billion dollars in the early hours of Thursday.


While the value of 87 units decreased from the highest volume of 100 units in the last 24 hours in the crypto money markets, nine of the top 10 units were among those that fell.


Bitcoin accounted for 60.1 percent and Ethereum for 11.2 percent of the total market volume in 36,986 markets where 8,937 cryptocurrencies were traded, while the 24-hour trading volume in all markets was at 128 billion dollars.
