OSD-Car sales rose by 61 pct. production fell by 6.0 pct. in Jan.

Turkey’s car sales increased by 61 percent to 35,358 units, while car production fell by 6.0 percent 68,777 units on an annual basis in January, according to a new report from the Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD) released on Monday.

Turkey’s total automotive sales increased by 61 percent to 45,230 units, while total production fell by 3.0 percent to 106,176 units over the same period.

In the same period, production increased by 8.8 percent in the commercial vehicle group, 107 percent in the heavy commercial vehicle group, and 5 percent in the light commercial vehicle group. In this period, commercial vehicle sales increased 62 percent, light commercial vehicle sales increased 52 percent and heavy commercial vehicle sales increased 77 percent.

In the same period, total automotive exports decreased by 14 percent to 77,569 units, while automobile exports decreased by 21 percent to 48,50 units.

Total automotive exports fell 6.0 percent in dollar terms to $ 2.3 billion and 15 percent in euro terms. During this period, automobile exports decreased by 22 percent to $ 802 million and rose by 29 percent on a euro basis to 659 million euros.
